DharamStay processes all payments through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. This policy outlines when and how refunds are issued for bookings made on our platform.

1. Eligibility for Refund

  • β€’Refunds are processed only for bookings cancelled in accordance with our Cancellation Policy.
  • β€’Refund requests must be raised within 30 days of the original transaction date. Requests beyond this window will not be considered.
  • β€’Bookings marked as 'No-Show' (guest did not arrive and did not cancel in advance) are not eligible for any refund.
  • β€’Bookings made during peak pilgrimage seasons (Kanwar Yatra, Kumbh Mela, Navratri) are fully non-refundable unless DharamStay initiates the cancellation.

2. Refund Amounts

  • β€’Cancellation 7+ days before check-in: 100% refund of the booking total, minus Razorpay payment gateway charges (up to 2%).
  • β€’Cancellation 3–6 days before check-in: 50% refund of the booking total.
  • β€’Cancellation less than 3 days before check-in: No refund.
  • β€’If DharamStay or the property cancels your booking: 100% full refund of the amount paid, including any coupon discount already applied.
  • β€’GST (5%) charged on the booking is non-refundable as per Indian tax regulations.

3. How to Request a Refund

  • β€’Step 1: Contact us on WhatsApp (+91 99999 99999) or email (hello@dharamstay.in) with your booking reference number (DS-XXXXXX).
  • β€’Step 2: Our team will verify your request against the booking records within 24–48 hours.
  • β€’Step 3: Once approved, the refund will be initiated to your original payment method.
  • β€’Please do not contact Razorpay directly for refunds β€” all refund requests must go through DharamStay support.

4. Refund Processing Timeline

  • β€’Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days from the date of approval.
  • β€’UPI refunds typically reflect within 1–3 business days after processing.
  • β€’Credit/debit card refunds may take 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
  • β€’Net banking refunds typically reflect within 3–5 business days.
  • β€’DharamStay is not responsible for delays on the part of your bank or payment provider.

5. Partial Refunds

  • β€’If you checked in but had to leave early, no refund is applicable for the remaining nights unless the property was uninhabitable due to documented facility failure.
  • β€’If a coupon code was used during booking, the refund is calculated on the discounted amount actually paid β€” not the original base price.
  • β€’If a service was partially delivered (e.g. a scooty tour cut short due to mechanical issue), a proportional refund may be granted at DharamStay's discretion.

6. Non-Refundable Situations

  • β€’Change of plans, personal emergencies, or inability to travel are not grounds for refunds beyond the standard cancellation window.
  • β€’Refunds are not issued for dissatisfaction with the dharamshala's dΓ©cor, food choices not disclosed in the listing, or personal preferences.
  • β€’Razorpay payment gateway charges and convenience fees are non-refundable in all cases.
  • β€’If a discount or coupon was applied fraudulently or in violation of the coupon's terms, the booking may be cancelled without refund.

7. Dispute Resolution

  • β€’If you believe a refund was incorrectly denied, you may escalate by emailing hello@dharamstay.in with the subject line 'Refund Dispute – [Booking Ref]'.
  • β€’We aim to resolve all disputes within 7 business days.
  • β€’This policy is governed by the laws of India. Disputes subject to jurisdiction of courts in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
